Science vs Spiritual

We live in an age overly dominated by science and materialism. At this time science tends to be quite unified unlike religion(the spiritual)which now tends to be tribal in nature. We need to advance a lot further in the spiritual direction and become less divisive in this area. Spiritual divisiveness is leading to a lot of conflict in this world. If we got our act together spiritually and became more effective in this area, science would be forced to not discount the value of the spiritual so much. I tend to challenge science and the fields that claim to be based on science to some degree when they tend to devalue the importance of the spiritual and the role the spirit plays in regard to helping us behave sanely and in a healthy manner in this world.

Psychology is spiritual and people in this field need to be trained to be more capable in the spiritual area. Medicine has a very strong spiritual component which plays a very strong role in getting people to get on a good diet and exercise program so as to become really healthy. Meditative techniques can help one to heal oneself and become healthier. Effective spiritual beliefs play a strong role in helping one gain a stronger grip on reality, so that one will be motivated to act in a way that will make one healthier and more effective in this challenging physical world we exist in.

Science vs Spiritual: 2 very different fields

Science is not perfect, but it does keep working at improving. I wish we would work harder at improving our understanding about the spiritual. The spiritual area does tend to be more resistant to change than science is. Science tends to have an external focus while the spiritual has a more inner focus. We have hard science and soft science. Science does best when dealing with material substances. The spiritual deal with the non-material. Science is not so good when trying to deal with human beings and their differences. Science often tends to not understand its limitations and to discredit the spiritual side of life and its impact.

On the other hand people who focus on the spiritual often are overly critical of science and tend to think that scientific laws can be circumvented through spiritual means or through the power of belief. The spiritual is not a science. This does not mean it does not work or is a pseudoscience. Science can not be used to make advances in the spiritual since inner(intuitive)work is required, but may be able to test how effective different spiritual beliefs/method help to improve people’s lives.

Knowing a certain amount about the physical universe and the problems of this world requires a certain amount of valid information with the help of science. The spiritual tends to be more (w)holistic(than science) so it has to use science in order to get the complete picture. Some people try to use not very good or misunderstood science to prove that their spiritual belief are valid. That is why we need to often fact check the validity of the science people claim backs up their beliefs by going to skeptic sites. We must do this because if less adequate spiritual beliefs are given extra credence, then more adequate differing beliefs will be not given the credence they deserve. Fraud and deception do occur at times in the spiritual field of study.

I do not see anything coming from ancient times that indicates in any way that they were superior to the civilizations that followed them. I feel we have continuously made progress from one civilization to the next. At least we have madeprogress over time in being able to better record in writing/print our knowledge and History. When dealing with ancient times, we have to depend a lot on our intuition to fill in the dots as to what we do not know. We have to decide which scientists are most reliable. The ancients did have a well developed brain, so they were able to do some impressive things with what knowledge they did have. But, we do not lose all the spiritual knowledge that we gain when a civilization falls apart. Any knowledge lost would soon be recovered, since the psychic trail would remain and will help it to be quickly rediscovered. Knowledge changes the human psyche on a deep spiritual level.A lot of people reincarnate continuously on this Earth, since most spirits become really attached to this planet and to other spirits who are also attached to this planet. These people who reincarnate will retain a psychic sense of that will help them to quickly rediscover when conditions are right what ever knowledge they previously were exposed to. This happens also in the spiritual area. But more new knowledge will be discovered in each successive civilization up to the present. We have not reach a level where we can not progress a lot farther than previous civilizations. We are way advanced over the Roman Empire, that was so instrumental in developing Christianity.

It should be obvious to anyone that we have a lot more growing to do in our understanding of the spiritual, based on how spiritual messed up this world now is. I do not see how anyone can see all the harsh and unhealthy conditions as well as abuse that exists in this world as being a sign that we really know what we are doing spiritually on this planet

Energy, Technology, Our Economy, and the Need for Spiritual Advancement

We are going to keep using our oil, coal, and gas resources for quite some time into the future. With the state of our world’s economy we are going to have to use what energy resources we have to get out of the mess we are in. Alternative energy will keep developing also and play its role along with the development more of our oil, coal, and gas resources. The United States will also need to keep developing all of its own energy resources in order to improve its economy through gaining more energy independence. It is true we need to advance further spiritually in this world so that we will become better at sharing the world’s resources(including energy) with less fortunate countries and people. We do need to be careful about demonizing certain industries(coal, oil, nuclear) and all the people in it. This world would not have advanced as far as it has technologically if it were not for oil, coal, gas, and nuclear power.

The greenhouse affect is being exaggerated by certain people who have an agenda. It is a problem to quite a degree, but not an unsolvable one. I think we will be able to geoengineer the climate in the future to quite a degree and also find ways to lessen how much carbon dioxide is in the atmosphere. I do not believe we will stop using our fossil fuels when they are so cheap and abundant. We have huge amounts of natural gas and coal, as well as still having quite a bit of oil left. A lot of products we use are made from petroleum.

Our climate has naturally gone through periodic ice ages and may have been headed for another one, if we had not started adding so much greenhouse gas to our atmosphere. Nature can be brutal and often man has to figure out how to tame it to some degree so as to make life more comfortable and healthy. Progress is never perfect, but usually the good out weights the bad. And often an attempt to improve things may not go very well at the beginning, but with further work and tweaking will bring a lot better results in the future than if no attempt to improve things was attempted in the first place. I am into being innovative and looking for reasonable solutions. I certainly do not see using Ox power(an idea mention by a person I know) as a reasonable solution to the worlds energy needs in the future.

This world is very complicated, but we can if we become more capable spiritually be able to handle this complexity and the serious problems that come with it. But, we will need to start really advancing in the spiritual area and become more willing to let go or improve upon the spiritual ideas of the past. We have so much more to learn about the spiritual and we need to start working really hard to start making some progress in this area. Science has advance so much in recent times, but the spiritual has been resistant to change and having improvements and advancement made in that area. We can do a lot to improve our spiritual beliefs/programming(understanding of the spiritual)and spiritual practices/training. One can only become really good at anything with proper training and programming.Spiritual people need to work with science and technology and the industries related to them, rather than just constantly demonizing them.

We can do a lot of value spiritually if we work in cooperation with others and have the spiritual strength and awareness to be able to deal with the complexity and intensity of the problems that come with our age and the people who are contending with these problems. The solutions will not be easy, and will require a multifaceted approach. We have to much polarization in this world today, and this is making solutions to our serious problems so much more difficult. We need to start looking for the degree of truth that can be found in all the points of view presented when ever we are trying to find a workable solution to a problem
